Our living room has gone through several different styles. First traditional, then coastal, then farmhouse, back to coastal, and now I’m finally getting back to my traditional roots with a country house/New England twist. Make sense? 😂 Honestly, we are just traditional sorts of people, so that’s no surprise. 😉
The other day, I decided to put together my dream living room in photoshop. Part of this was to give me a list of what to start looking for, but also part fun! 😊 I’m absolutely loving the look and I cannot wait to start incorporating it into our home slowly.
Of course, this will be done over time. Partly because of budget, but mostly because this will be a collected look, rather than instant. Many of these are antiques, so it will take time for me to get them all together while still not breaking the bank. Really though, as I get older, I start to truly love the look of a collected home. Where things have been acquired over the years and are all really loved items, rather than just thrown together in a rush.
The above left is my inspiration photo. I just love how cozy and homey it feels! My purchase that I will probably make earlier on than anything else is a Pottery Barn slipcovered sofa. The Ikea one that we have now was great for the budget at that phase of our lives, but honestly it is just the most uncomfortable thing ever! I am also on the hunt for a great antique English mahogany chest. They are just so timeless and classic. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a ship painting to cross my path in the future. I’m hoping I can find one at an estate sale, so we will see!
As for the color scheme, it is kinda funny because these are very similar to the colors from my branding board I posted a few weeks back. Clearly, I like these shades! Mainly though, I’m wanting a pretty neutral scheme of browns, tans, and creams. Navy is always a neutral to me, so some tiny touches of blue and white without going overboard. The final thing to tie it all in will be brass. It is my absolute favorite.
Now to just get some patience and wait for these items to find me! 😉
Do you have a dream living room idea? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
