Whenever I am having people over for dinner (or just a special night in with my husband), I love to have the table set beautifully. This doesn’t necessarily mean having a grand, over the top tablescape.
Don’t get me wrong, I can certainly appreciate complex table settings and they definitely have their place! The only thing with grand table settings though is that they can be a little, well, stuffy. When I am somewhere with an over the top setting, I tend to be afraid that I will mess something up!
Instead, I think simple is best. I always like to put something from nature in the middle with some candles flanking each side. This method for me is always foolproof and will be beautiful, but put your guests at ease to where they can be themselves!
Since this is a summer tablescape, hydrangeas are certainly appropriate. Really, is there anything that reminds you of summer more than hydrangeas? I put them in one of my favorite willow and glass vases.
The real item though that inspired this whole setting are these napkins from Pottery Barn. I am a sucker for a block print and the blue is so seasonally appropriate. I used some simple pewter napkin rings (also from Pottery Barn) to hold them together. Basic white plates complete the ensemble. To me, white is always best because it really makes the print on the napkins stand out.
And there you have it! A beautiful summer tablescape that is super easy to do and won’t break the bank, but will still be special for your guests.
Thanks for looking!
