Our current coffee table is something that I have been wanting to replace for awhile. We bought it about 3 years ago when I was still finding my home style and it just doesn’t fit my style now. Not to mention it’s not made the best. There are so many cracks in it that are pretty noticeable. Plus, with a baby on the way, when she is mobile those hard corners will not be ideal. At least, that’s one of my excuses for wanting to replace it. 😉 But it is true!
For years, I’ve really wanted to replace it with an ottoman. I just love how cozy an ottoman looks as a coffee table.
My dream ottoman? Pottery Barn’s Raleigh Square Ottoman. I love the legs, the size, and the fact that there are so many options for fabric. The only thing that I am not crazy about is the price. I’m just not sure I can justify spending that, but I don’t want to wait years to save up for it either.
Then there is this option. It is the Rittenhouse Tufted Cocktail Ottoman from Joss & Main. It has the legs that I like and it is also a good size. The price though is amazing at $185.
The only problem? The color. I was wanting something a little bit darker, more brown than tan. I’m also not crazy about velvet.
One thing I could do to solve this would be having a slipcover made for it. There are so many benefits to slipcovers. I can choose whichever fabric I want. If a stain gets on it, then all I have to do is take it off and get it cleaned. If I get bored with it, I can always have a new one made.
Even when factoring in the cost of fabric and having a slipcover made, it will still be cheaper than the Pottery Barn one.
So now I’m torn. Do I wait several years and save for the Pottery Barn one, or do I go with the cheaper one and have a pretty slipcover made for it? What would you do?
